Land Surveyor – Survey Geomatician (2 Positions F/T):

Responsible to determine precise location and measurement of points, elevations, lines, areas and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, mining or other purposes; research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys; develop new data from photogrammetric records; determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control; keep accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed; coordinate findings with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients and others concerned with project; surveying techniques using different types of total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment; route, topographic, boundary and ALTA surveys; perform construction stake outs including the ability to layout project from plans. F/T Civil Engineer-Geomatician

  • Apply principles of land surveying to determine the position for any monument or reference point;
  • Perform geodetic or cadastral surveying;
  • Develop project proposals, scopes, budgets and manage execution and tracking of engineering projects;
  • Development and coordination of design plans, specifications, construction support, cost estimating;
  • Attend client meetings and meet with agencies on project issues and/or coordination;
  • Prepare engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristic, and related topographical and geographic data;
  • Determine project costs by calculating labor, material and related costs;
  • Fulfill project requirements by training and guiding operators;
  • Maintains operations by enforcing project and operational policies and procedures;
  • Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Cultivate client relationships and present project status updates;
  • Perform GPS (Global Position System) fast static control survey using real-time GPS technology;
  • Perform coordinate geometric calculation and field to finish projects including digital mapping using applicable software for graphic applications.

Title Survey Technician IV

Department(s) Operations - Office • Reports to Project Manager

Job Summary
The Survey Technician IV is responsible for working on mapping projects, including Record of Surveys, Tentative Maps to Final Maps (both Parcel and Tract Maps), Lot Line Adjustments, Corner Records, Legal Descriptions and Exhibits, Condominium Plans, etc.

Summary of Essential Job Function

  • Strong Knowledge of the use of Civil 3D 2016 and above.
  • Knowledge of the use of Excel and Word.
  • Ability to research property information from county websites (e.g. assessor’s parcel maps, record maps, field books, etc.).
  • Expertise to analyze boundaries and establish them to create record of surveys, tract maps and parcel maps.
  • Ability to prepare condominium plans.
  • Familiarly with the PLS Act and Subdivision Map Act.
  • Ability to identify conflicts within documents, maps and drawings.
  • Expertise to identify conflicts between collected field data and existing field conditions.
  • Proficient in the interpretation of legal descriptions.
  • Ability to prepare legal descriptions and exhibits (easements, vacations, dedications, etc.).
  • Knowledge to prepare tentative maps through their final stage (parcel maps and tract maps).
  • Expertise to interact with clients, title officers, developers, lawyers, in the process of finalizing a tract map or parcel map.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Follows established technical specifications to prepare drawings and assist in mapping projects.

Requirements

  • Have a least 5-7 years of experience in the field on related area
  • LSIT and/or EIT certifications preferred
  • Must be proficient with Civil 3D
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Dependable
